Skin Cancer
See below the most commonly asked questions we get about Skin Cancer
Skin cancer surgery is a procedure designed to remove cancerous cells from the skin, aiming for complete removal while sparing as much healthy tissue as possible. Dr Ho employs advanced, precision techniques to excise cancerous lesions and reduce visible scarring. This approach not only treats the cancer effectively but also considers cosmetic outcomes, ensuring patients feel confident in their appearance post-surgery.
Candidates for skin cancer surgery are those diagnosed with skin cancer types like basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, or melanoma, and who require surgical excision for effective treatment. Patients can benefit from Dr Ho’s expertise in both oncological safety and aesthetic surgery, ensuring thorough removal of the cancerous lesion while maintaining skin appearance.
Recovery after skin cancer surgery typically spans several weeks, during which time Dr Ho provides a detailed aftercare plan to support healing. While initial swelling or redness may appear around the surgical site, these symptoms gradually subside. Follow-up visits are scheduled to monitor healing and discuss any concerns, with advice on skin care practices to further support recovery.
While scarring can occur after skin cancer surgery, Dr Ho uses advanced techniques to minimise visible scars and ensures that any incisions are carefully placed. Over time, scars typically fade and become less noticeable. Patients can also explore additional scar care options with Dr Ho, such as topical treatments or laser therapy, to further reduce scar visibility.
