Genioplasty is the procedure used to address lack of contour and profile in the chin.

A small chin often distorts the rest of the facial proportions markedly. Patients complain not only of a ‘weak’ chin appearance with loss of definition between the jaw line and neck but the chin deficit often creates a perception of a disproportionately prominent nose or midface.

The chin may be restored utilising an implant or by moving your own chin into a better position. Which method suits you best will be determined at your first consultation. Both techniques involve an incision within the mouth, just in front of your lower teeth in the groove behind your lip. This affords a result without an externally visible incision line.

Cost

Initial consultation is $300. If a second consultation is required, this is at no out-of-pocket charge.

The total cost of the procedure (surgeon, anaesthetist, hospital fees, garment, possible implant) and any rebates you may be entitled will be calculated for you after your initial consultation and you will be provided a written quote. Post-operative consultations are not charged.

It is advisable to bring a referral as you may be eligible for rebates from Medicare and your health fund that will offset a proportion of the above costs. You will be given an accurate written quote after your first consultation.
