Liposuction is the surgical technique for removing excess fatty deposits around the body by suction and liposculpture is the redistribution of fat to soften areas or recontour a deficit. It is an effective technique for removing fat that seems impossible to shift with exercise and diet. It works best for areas of disproportion where the overlying skin quality is of good tone. It is commonly used in conjunction with other body contouring procedures (listed below).
Conventionally, liposuction is the removal of fat by suction. It is done via small incisions to access the affected area. Liposculpture also uses similar equipment but rather than suctioning all fat out of an area, some of it can be redistributed as necessary to provide desired contour which restores body proportions.
Both techniques are performed under ‘tumescence’ whereby the area to be addressed is infused with a wetting solution that contains local anaesthetic. This aids fat removal, pain relief, and minimises bruising.
The operation time varies depending on the amount of liposculpture required.
Generally a day only procedure without the need for overnight hospitalisation
Risks are general to any procedure and specific to liposuction. I will go through these with you in detail based on your individual risk. This will also be included in your surgery pack that will be provided after your initial consultation.
Recovery is usually within three weeks. A compression garment is required to be worn immediately after surgery for up to 6 weeks to minimise bruising and swelling and aid in optimal shape outcome
Initial consultation is $350. If a second face to face consultation is required, there is a cost of $150.
A referral is required for your appointment.
The total cost of the procedure (surgeon, anaesthetist, hospital fees, garments) and any rebates you may be entitled will be calculated for you after your initial consultation. Post-operative consultations are not charged.

Liposuction surgery is a cosmetic procedure that removes excess fat from specific areas of the body, such as the abdomen, thighs, hips, arms, or neck, to create a more contoured appearance.
Liposuction is ideal for individuals who are near their ideal weight but have stubborn pockets of fat that don’t respond to diet or exercise. It’s not a weight-loss solution or treatment for obesity. A consultation with Dr Kevin Ho will help determine if the procedure suits your goals.
Liposuction can target areas like the abdomen, thighs, hips, buttocks, arms, back, and chin. It’s also commonly used to treat conditions like gynecomastia in men.
The surgery typically takes 1-3 hours, depending on the number and size of areas being treated.
Most patients can return to light activities within a few days and normal routines after 2-4 weeks. Full recovery, including swelling reduction and final results, can take several months.
Liposuction involves small incisions, which result in minimal scarring. These scars usually fade significantly over time and are placed in discreet locations whenever possible.
The fat removed during liposuction is permanently gone. However, maintaining the results requires a healthy lifestyle, as weight gain can lead to fat accumulation in other areas.
The cost varies based on the areas treated and the complexity of the procedure. During your consultation, Dr Kevin Ho will provide a personalised quote.
Anaesthesia is used during the procedure to ensure comfort. Post-surgery, mild discomfort, swelling, and bruising are normal but manageable with prescribed pain relief.
Liposuction is designed to remove fat, not tighten skin. If loose skin is a concern, additional procedures like a tummy tuck or body lift may be recommended.
Initial results are noticeable soon after surgery. However, swelling may temporarily mask the full effect. Final results are typically visible within 3-6 months.
