Just returned from another two-week Interplast charity mission focusing on underprivileged children born with facial deformities. This time in the Philippine’s city of Cagayan De Oro.
A hectic schedule of operating with two surgical teams over 9 operating days completing 106 procedures in 72 children.
My most challenging case was an 8 year old boy born with bilateral facial clefts (see attached photos). His dream was to go to school and be treated as normal so he could grow up to be a policeman. Thanks to Interplast, poverty and lack of resources to necessary surgery, will no longer hinder him.
